Job Description

Position Summary
The Avionics Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, testing, repairing, and modifying aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This role works with a variety of onboard systems, including communication and navigation equipment, weather radar, autopilot systems, compass systems, and related accessories. All work must be completed in accordance with applicable manufacturer instructions, FAA regulations, and established repair facility procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and isolate faults within aircraft avionics, electrical systems, and associated components.
  • Troubleshoot systems including airborne communication and navigation equipment, weather radar, autopilot systems, compass systems, and other avionics accessories.
  • Perform inspections and operational testing of avionics equipment to verify proper functionality and compliance with manufacturer requirements.
  • Install, repair, overhaul, modify, and adjust aircraft communication, navigation, autopilot, and electrical system components as required.
  • Interpret and follow manufacturer technical documentation, maintenance instructions, wiring diagrams, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all company, FAA, and governmental safety policies, including proper use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, inspection forms, checklists, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in hands-on training and knowledge-sharing activities with other technicians and onsite personnel.
  • Maintain familiarity with the repair station's inspection procedures and ensure work is performed in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with customers, vendors, coworkers, and other business contacts.
  • Collaborate with other departments and assist team members when needed to ensure assignments are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for less-experienced technicians by providing guidance and technical support when appropriate.
  • Additional activities may include sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • The technician must be capable of frequently lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handling items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited two-year college, university, or technical school in avionics maintenance or a related discipline; or
  • Equivalent military training in avionics or a related field; or
  • At least five years of directly related professional avionics experience, with specific experience installing and troubleshooting modern flat-panel avionics displays such as Garmin G1000 or Collins Pro Line 21 systems.
  • 10+  years of directly related avionics experience.
  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting integrated flat-panel avionics systems.
  • Experience working with systems such as Garmin G1000 and Collins Pro Line 21.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, maintenance documentation, and applicable FAA requirements.
Pay/Schedule
  • Monday - Friday
  • Hourly dependent on experience
  • Per diem split to those that qualify
  • Long term contract to hire
