Military fixed-wing aviation experience and F/A-18 platform experience are highly valued. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal and structural repair duties, including disassembly, modification, repair, fabrication, and reassembly of complex aircraft structures and components.

  • Fabricate, modify, install, and repair structural components, including bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks.

  • Develop patterns using parallel-line and radial-line development methods to fabricate components with complex contours, angles, curves, and varying dimensions.

  • Work with a variety of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, alloys, and honeycomb structures.

  • Cut, bend, shape, form, and fit sheet metal components to meet specified dimensions, configurations, and structural tolerances.

  • Replace damaged structural sections, fabricate patches, and repair existing aircraft structures using approved repair procedures.

  • Perform drilling, punching, riveting, bolting, screwing, seaming, tacking, and other approved fastening and assembly methods to restore structural integrity.

  • Assemble and repair components using appropriate joints and fastening techniques while meeting required appearance, strength, fit, and dimensional standards.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, protractors, height and depth gauges, dial indicators, screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points, and sine bars.

  • Complete required inspections and verify that structural repairs and modifications meet applicable technical, quality, and acceptance standards.

  • Successfully complete the facility-administered certification skills examination required for employment.

  • Travel up to 25% of the time as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of aircraft sheet metal or structural repair experience.

  • F/A-18 Hornet or Super Hornet structural repair experience preferred.

  • Military fixed-wing aircraft maintenance experience or a civilian heavy-structure aviation background preferred.

  • Experience performing heavy structural repairs on U.S. military aircraft or comparable FAA-regulated or civil aviation platforms.

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft structural repair methods, sheet metal fabrication, fastening systems, and precision measurement techniques.

  • Ability to interpret technical publications, engineering drawings, aircraft structural repair manuals, and other applicable documentation.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

  • Must successfully complete the required facility-administered certification skills examination.

  • Must successfully complete post-offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing. SkyBridge Aviation maintains a drug-free workplace.
