Aircraft Flightline Mechanic

Job Duties:

The Aircraft Flightline Mechanic is responsible for performing aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and flightline operations in support of military aviation programs. This position ensures aircraft are maintained in a safe, mission-ready condition and in compliance with applicable technical data, engineering directives, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

Essential Functions

• Perform maintenance, disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, reassembly, modification, and adjustment of aircraft systems, components, and assemblies in accordance with technical orders, engineering instructions, and approved maintenance procedures.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections to identify discrepancies, wear, damage, or system malfunctions and perform required corrective actions.
• Utilize technical publications, maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to perform maintenance and repair activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, environmental, and avionics system discrepancies utilizing approved diagnostic equipment and test equipment.
• Perform aircraft launch, recovery, servicing, towing, and flightline operations in support of daily maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company policies, safety standards, quality assurance procedures, and applicable FAA and Department of Defense regulations.
• Accurately document maintenance actions, inspections, discrepancies, and corrective actions within aircraft maintenance records and electronic maintenance management systems.
• Coordinate with engineering, quality assurance, logistics, and maintenance leadership to resolve technical issues and support mission requirements.
• Maintain accountability and serviceability of tools, support equipment, and materials used during maintenance operations.
• Support continuous process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and operational readiness.
• Perform maintenance activities in hangar, ramp, and flightline environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and mission success.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience, or two (2) years of post-secondary education/Associate Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of related aircraft maintenance experience.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of military aircraft maintenance experience supporting multiple aircraft platforms, including but not limited to C-130, P-8A, KC-135, C-17, G550, or similar aircraft.
• Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or military aviation maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge of military aircraft maintenance procedures, flightline operations, and maintenance documentation requirements.
• Must be aircraft engine run certified with either G550, C-130, or P-8 aircraft.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, technical orders, and maintenance procedures.
• Proficiency using maintenance information systems, diagnostic equipment, and computerized maintenance tracking systems.
• Ability to successfully pass a flightline physical examination.
• Ability to obtain certification to operate powered ground support equipment, including forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, towing vehicles, and other self-propelled equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
• Must have a valid driver license
• Must pass a standard FAA DOT drug test and criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
• Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Previous experience supporting Contractor Logistics Support (CLS), depot maintenance, sustainment, modification, or field service representative programs.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience involving avionics, electrical, and integrated aircraft systems.
• Experience supporting military aircraft modernization, modification, or upgrade programs.
• Familiarity with Department of Defense maintenance and quality assurance processes.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors on active flightlines and in aircraft hangars under varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders, maintenance stands, aircraft structures, and stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in confined spaces as required.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, shift work, and on-call assignments as mission requirements dictate.
