POSITION / OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
  • We are seeking an experienced Senior Avionics Technician to support an FAA-certified repair station specializing in turboprop and light/mid-size business jet aircraft. This individual will serve as a technical leader, performing advanced avionics installations, Garmin system integration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Garmin flight deck installations, can independently diagnose complex electrical and avionics issues, and enjoys mentoring technicians while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead advanced avionics installations, modifications, and upgrades on turboprop and business jet aircraft.
  • Perform Garmin avionics installations, system integrations, upgrades, and configurations, including:
    • GTN Series
    • GNS Series
    • G500/G600
    • G1000
    • GI275
    • GTX Transponders
    • GFC Autopilot Systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex avionics, electrical, navigation, communication, flight control, and aircraft wiring systems.
  • Resolve intermittent electrical and avionics discrepancies using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, installation drawings, STCs, and OEM technical manuals.
  • Perform system configuration, software loading, operational checks, and post-installation functional testing.
  • Fabricate, repair, terminate, and inspect aircraft wiring harnesses and connectors.
  • Remove and reinstall aircraft interiors, panels, and avionics components as required.
  • Collaborate with A&P Mechanics, Sheet Metal Technicians, Interior Teams, and Quality Inspectors during aircraft modification projects.
  • Complete logbook entries, work orders, and installation documentation accurately and in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Mentor and assist junior avionics technicians while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.
  • Communicate technical issues and project status with Leads, Supervisors, and Quality personnel.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • 8–10+ years of avionics maintenance experience on turboprop and/or business jet aircraft.
  • Extensive hands-on Garmin installation, integration, configuration, and troubleshooting experience is REQUIRED.
  • Strong background performing avionics modifications, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings.
  • Experience with aircraft electrical systems, wiring repairs, harness fabrication, and connector build-up.
  • Thorough knowledge of FAA regulations, STCs, Service Bulletins, and Part 145 Repair Station procedures.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities with the capability to independently solve complex avionics issues.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications and electronic maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment 7-year Criminal Background Check, and standard FAA DOT drug test.
  • Reliable personal transportation/vehicle required.
  • Valid US Driver’s License.
  • Proof of US Citizenship.
  • MUST have basic tools/box.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the work shift.
  • Lift or move up to 50 lbs independently and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of Pennsylvania, including dust, humidity, rain, sleet, snow, heat, and cold.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, fumes, noise, and heights.
  • Must be willing to work day or night shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
